A note from our practice
Family life can be full of love and still feel incredibly hard.
Maybe conversations at home keep turning into arguments, or everyone has gone quiet and retreated to separate corners of the house. Perhaps a big change, like a move, a divorce, a new blended family, or the loss of someone you love, has shifted how your family works. Or maybe you are simply worried about a child or teen and are not sure how to help.
Struggling as a family does not mean you have failed each other. It often means the ways you have relied on to communicate and cope are no longer working.
At Counseling Group of the Ozarks, we provide a warm, supportive space for families to talk honestly, understand one another, and find a better way forward. We are located in Springfield, MO, and available by Missouri telehealth.

What we help with
Every family has its own history, personalities, and pressures. When something is wrong, it rarely affects just one person. Stress in one relationship can ripple through the whole household.
Family counseling looks at how you relate to one another, not just at one person as “the problem.” We help families across the Ozarks work through challenges including:
Breaking out of repeated arguments, silence, and misunderstandings so that everyone feels heard.
Working through tension around independence, rules, trust, and the changes that come with growing up.
Adjusting to new households, new roles, and new relationships with care for everyone involved.
Finding your footing together through moves, new jobs, health changes, and other transitions.
Supporting one another after the loss of a loved one, even when each person grieves differently.
Tell us a little about what’s going on and we’ll match you with the therapist who fits you best.
How we help
Your therapist will start by getting to know your family and what brought you in. Together, you will talk about what each person wants to change and who should be part of the sessions.
Your therapist’s role is not to take sides. It is to help each person feel heard and to guide your family toward practical changes you can use at home.
Learn to talk through hard topics, listen to one another, and repair after conflict.
Build shared expectations so each family member knows where they stand and what they can count on.
Replace blame with understanding, and find ways to face challenges together.
Who we serve
Families come in many forms. Whatever yours looks like, you deserve a space where each person is treated with compassion and dignity.
At Counseling Group of the Ozarks, we are dedicated to providing a fiercely inclusive environment that honors the diverse lived experiences of our community.
Because the therapeutic relationship is everything, our practice houses eight distinct clinicians. This ensures we can match your family with a clinician whose personality, expertise, and therapeutic style align with your needs.
We see children ages 5 and up, teens, adults, and elders, so counseling can include the family members who need to be part of the conversation.
We provide an explicitly safe, celebratory space for the LGBTQIA+ community and culturally competent, responsive counseling that is fully inclusive of BIPOC individuals.

FAQs

Not always. Your therapist will talk with you about who should be part of the sessions. Some sessions may include everyone, while others may focus on one or two family members.
We offer both. You can meet at our Springfield office or by secure telehealth from anywhere in Missouri.
This is very common. You can begin with the family members who are ready, and your therapist can talk with you about how to invite others in when the time is right.
Not at all. Many families come in during a transition or when they notice that communication is getting harder. You do not have to wait for things to reach a breaking point.
The timeline varies from family to family. Your therapist will talk with you about your goals and how often it makes sense to meet.
